It is a day which many women dream about from the time they are little girls–their wedding day.
Rachelle Friedman was no different, but the day before she was set to be married, something unfortunate happened. At her bachelorette party, Rachelle was playfully pushed into a pool by one of her friends. Instead of emerging from the water in a bout of laughter or anger, she didn’t emerge at all. When her friend pushed her, her head collided with the concrete bottom of the pool, breaking her neck. As a result of her injuries, Rachelle is now a quadriplegic.
That hasn’t stopped her from maintaining a positive outlook, though. A look at her website shows that she is strong, determined and unwilling to let her injuries hold her back. Now she does motivational speaking engagements to share her story of overcoming obstacles. Her story is certainly inspirational. It is an excellent example of a person not allowing tragedy to determine their fate.
For those who are curious, Rachelle got to have her big day and got married a little more than a year after her accident. Read more about Rachelle’s story on her website.
