Some say it is the hottest new trend in fitness and fashion. These HotPants claim to elevate your temperature while wearing them. It is not a new fact that the hotter you get, the more calories you burn.
Dessi Bell of Zaggora says their hot pants burn up to 11% more calories while exercising than a normal garment. But wait, there’s more. An hour after you work out, these pants help burn 13% more calories.
According to their website, The Celu-Lite Technology TM is a patent pending, multi-layer fabric technology harnessing the body’s natural heat during exercise to help you burn more calories.
Press coverage has been good in the US and the UK, reviews from consumers are very good both on the website and Facebook and they did have the Chelsea School at Brighton University study the effectiveness of the product.
Yet some part of me is saying – this is too good to be true. I think all women love the idea of this but with the starting price point of $59 for a pair of knee length shorts, it does require a commitment to try them out.
So has their marketing to women technique worked? Their site claims to have sold to 600,000 customers in 126 countries around the world in its first two years. Not too shabby.
Will I be trying a pair? I want to, but am currently undecided. The price is comparable to some other high end brands but who doesn’t want to burn a few extra calories, right?
